When Robert Ripley began his quest to accumulate some of the most bizarre findings of his worldwide travels, it included the oddities of nature and man, to the curiosities and the grotesque. The collection was so unusual it nearly defied description. The term museum fell far short of the collection of uncommon, abnormal and one-of-a-kind displays. This collection of oddities needed a more appropriate descriptor and Ripley’s has coined just the right term – The Odditorium. Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum or Odditorium is one of the top rated attractions in Panama City Beach Florida
From the large to the small, there’s something to satisfy your curiosity. Such is the case with the World’s Tallest Man exhibit. The late Robert Wadlow of Alton, IL stood slightly over 8’ 11” tall. Take a photo next to the Wadlow replica to be amused by the vast difference in your height to Mr. Wadlow’s.
If something small is more in keeping with your interests, see the real Shrunken Head hanging within its protective display case. Retrieved from the Jivaro tribe, native to Ecuador, Peru and Brazil in the Amazon River region, this is a gruesome reminder of the final outcome of defeated warriors in battle – or to the victor go the spoils!
If the macabre is more to your taste, perhaps the Vampire Killing Kit will make it Halloween every day of the year at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum. No need to book passage to Transylvania when Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum Panama City has an entire display where you can examine wooden daggers, silver bullets, anti-vampire potions, powder canisters and more!
The mysterious orient takes shape in the form of a 12-foot long Chinese Jade Dragon Ship. View the olde world craftsmanship, the same used in dynasties past to handcraft the Emperor’s private marble Dragon Ships for the Summer Palace.
Should jade not be heavy enough for your travels, you’ll be astounded by the gold coin limousine – this 1988 Lincoln Continental has more than 22,000 gold coins affixed to the vehicle. When driving this golden tribute to luxury and opulence, you’ll never be short of pocket change for the parking meter!
Man-made wonders are reproduced in the form of scaled landmarks. The Eiffel Tower replica and the Roman Coliseum replica are each matchstick miniatures. Surprisingly, the real Eiffel Tower took just 3 years to construct, but Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum Eiffel Tower in Panama City Beach took over 4 years to measure, whittle, cut and glue.
The diversity of the unique and bizarre range from a six-legged calf or multi-headed animals, to pieces of the real Berlin Wall or out-of-this-world exhibits like “Moon Rocks.” The Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium will leave you scratching your head at the mixture of the unique, uncommon and unbelievable! Be certain to include Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum on your list of must see attraction in or near Panama City Beach Florida.
